Jakub was absolutely fantastic from the time that I asked him some questions via chat all the way through the entire activity. As a vegetarian who was cautious on taking a food tour in a city, not known for its vegetarian options, he made sure that I was well accommodated His stories, humor, personality helped make the entire tour feel genuine versus cookie cutter. This has been one of the best food I've taken globally.Posted on Google Kevin SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We enjoyed a three hour Traditional Food and History tour with Jakub from Go Bratislava. Jakub is an energetic and knowledgeable young man who shared the history of Slovakia, Bratislava as well as the long history of the region from Roman, Habsburg through WW2 and Soviet occupation. Tied with the history, we stopped at 5 different places to be introduced to the traditional food of Bratislava. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to get their bearings in Bratislava and learn about its interesting history and culture.Posted on Google Nessa MaeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! arrived in Bratislava knowing absolutely nothing about Slovakia’s history, culture, or food, and six hours later I felt like I had gained a genuine appreciation for both the city and the country. What made this tour special was that it wasn’t just sightseeing—it was a conversation. My guide, Jakub, was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about Slovakia. He answered every question I had and tailored the experience to my interests throughout the day. We visited Devin Castle, explored the Old Town, learned about Slovak history and culture, and stopped at several local restaurants and cafés. Highlights included visiting the beautiful Blue Church, trying traditional Slovak palacinky (crepes), tasting Bratislavský rožok (pastries), and trying kofola and kapustnica (cola and Christmas soup) at Bratislava Flagship Restaurant, one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. The highlight was the final restaurant stop, where my guide introduced me to bryndzové halušky, Slovakia’s national dish: potato dumplings with sheep’s cheese and bacon. It was so good that after the tour I went to the UFO Observation Deck, looked at the dinner menu, and decided to skip dinner there so I could return to the restaurant from the tour and order the exact same dish again. I still think about it weeks later. I’ve traveled through five countries on this trip, and some of the best food I had was in Bratislava. In fact, it breaks my heart that so many travelers skip this city entirely. Even if you only have half a day in the city, book this tour. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve experienced far more than the typical tourist highlights and gained real insight into Slovakia and its people. This was one of the absolute highlights of my entire Central Europe trip. If I’m ever back in Slovakia, Jakub will be the first person I contact.Posted on Google Claudia VoegelinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've just returned from a wonderful food trip in Bratislava with Jakub. From the very beginning he was so friendly and welcoming, he even prepared a welcome gift for me. He was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions I had about food and life in Slovakia. The whole tour was really thoughtfully put together so that I was able to see some sights and try traditional foods and drinks. Jakub had also prepared print outs to show some extra details. I would absolutely recommend Jakub if you are looking for a local guide who is proud to show you his beautiful city. I can't say enough good things about the experience Jakub provided. I didn't even feel like a tourist, more like a friend from out of town who he was hosting. He was so laid back and friendly. The food was amazing. And it wasn't a tasting. We were given full portions at each of the several restaurants we visited. Along with a detailed description of why the food was important in the culture. I like that he had pictures and personal anecdotes about some of the dishes. 🧀We even went to a local grocery store and had a cheese eating race which I really enjoyed. And while I was mostly focused on the food, the other part of the tour was impressive as well. He highlighted several important aspects of Bratislava history that you just wouldn't know by an internet search. Jakub delivered the information so smoothly, again not like a tour guide but like a friendly chat for friends. He really tailored it to what we were interested in. The pacing was great. We walked quite a bit but there were frequent stops (obviously for food, sites and chats about the city). It is absolutely a great value for your money. I ate a lot of food and went on a lot of tours while traveling through central Europe but this was by far the best! I highly reccomend this tour! And Jakub if you ever plan to come through North Carolina let me know. I know some great spots for barbecue and lasagna bolognese. 🍖🍝 This isn't everything we ate and the pictures don't do it justice but this was an incredible tour.Posted on Google Ryan MacLeodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jakub was absolutely wonderful, warm, and a joy to spend the afternoon with. This tour will feel like a truly local hospitable experience because that is exactly what it is, and not part of a big tour company machine trying to sell tickets. It was clear Jakub has a passion both for food, being a guide, and for his home. He is genuinely excited to share it. I booked on a Monday so it ended being just me and my 13 year old son, who had never done a food tour. Jakub made both of us feel welcome, involved, and immersed. Everything was organized, seamless, and paced well. I highly recommend any tour with Jakub.Posted on Google Debbie SpenceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
